Sex, Gender and the Equality Act
The Equality Act 2010 came into force on 1st October significantly changing the rights of all people with “protected characteristics” (what we used to call equality strands) and especially those undergoing gender reassignment. Infact the changes for trans people are probably more extensive than for any other protected characteristic. GenderShift specialises in equality and diversity training with a focus on sex, gender and sexual orientation and as these changes are so significant that we are holding local seminars to explore what the Equality Act means to you, to help you to understand the impact of the new legislation on all people with protected characteristics, and to prepare the way for the introduction of the Public Sector Equality Duty in 2011. Like our Trans Awareness Workshop, this seminar will be highly interactive and fun and will primarily explore the impact of the equality act in regard to sex, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation and human rights issues. Of course the principles we will discuss apply almost equally to all “protected characteristics.” We are very aware of the limits on budgets at present especially in the public sector which is why we have set the fee for this seminar very low - Just £20 per head for public and private sector and £10 for voluntary sector. We are sorry but there are no free places available on this event.
