Currently we are holding public Trans Awareness Workshops only in Hull on a regular basis due to the substantial budget cuts across the public sector which has resulted in most organisations cutting all equality and diversity training for staff. We are holding occasional short Sex Gender and Equality Act Seminars and are running in house workshops for organisations throughout the UK.

The entertaining and informative Trans Awareness Workshop is designed to assist organisations in meeting their obligations under the Gender Equality Duty (GED) to take appropriate action to prevent discrimination and harassment of trans people and promote equal opportunities. It will also prepare them for the forthcoming Public Sector Equality Duty.

Many people have never knowingly met a trans person and their experiences are often based on negative comments and confusing labels, jargon and myths about differing trans experiences. This interactive event explores the colourful history and changing rights of trans people through lecture, discussion, group exercises, handouts, on-line resources and a unique question and answer session in which trans people will answer all your questions, "no matter how personal. (All questions are asked anonymously).

Developed by professional speaker and trainer Rikki Arundel, herself a trans woman and masters graduate in gender research, the workshop was successfully trialled with various departments in Hull City Council, Leicester City Council, Humberside Criminal Justice Board, Stop Hate UK, a variety of University Student Unions and open events.
